Establishing a Routine: Skin
In a wonderful book called, A Natural History of the Senses, the author Diane Ackerman, includes an essay titled, āThe Skin Has Eyesā. Our skin keeps us in touch with where we are in space, protects us and is the receiver of stimuli from our external environment. In some cases that stimuli can be soft as a sweet kiss on your cheek or damaging like UV rays from the sun. Skin can be a personal canvas for us to decorate with tattoos, paint and cosmetics. The skin can repair itself, regulate our internal temperature and aid us in sexual attraction. The color, texture and marking of skin through scars, acne or wrinkles, has been used as a way to construct us as individuals whether we agree with these constructions or not. In this way skin is part of the structural nature of power and privilege. The skin is what stands between the essence of who we are and the rest of the world. In that in-between space is the possibility of multiple interpretations of who we really are.
When it comes to fashion and my own personal style, I most often rely on my skin to tell me how I feel about a garment, more so than how it may look to my eye. I judge fabrics and textiles by how they feel on my skin which in turn engages my brain, triggering a memory or emotion. I judge the drape of a piece by how it engages with the air around my body and how it dances back and forth against, and with, my skin. The choice of color is usually decided by how well it interacts with my skin tone. I choose jewelry based on the level of comfort I feel when it is placed against my skin. An outfit may be constructed based on how much of my skin I wish to reveal or conceal.
I think we might be heading into a good time for skin. As much as there is more and more evidence about how pollution and the sun hurt and damage our skin, there is also much new technology that is harnessing the power of our own skin to heal and many skincare products being developed that are environmentally friendly and organically pure. Many have inspiring social missions. A large amount of these brands have been founded by women and are creating empowerment for them through promoting economic stability. This is beauty being part of a solution, not just bringing attention to it. This is women controlling something that once controlled them.
I must admit I think I have an intellectual approach to skincare as I pay much more attention to my face (in other words my head), in my beauty rituals than the rest of my body. My feet and hands get their needs met through a semi regular manicure and pedicure. My Ā RE-word for skin is: “re-imagine”, my skin care routine to extend below my neck. The best I do now is to make sure I am using a moisturizing body wash.Ā Ā Suggestions for RE-imagining the rest of my body in a skincare routine would be greatly appreciated!

Lyn, I am awed and grateful by this amazing piece on skin. In a certain way , you have mirrored the amazing multi-layered construction of the body’s largest organ, our skin, by layering perspectives from many angles about what our skin is and does; how we can experience life–and our clothing–more consciously; and how we can re-fine how we take care of it, with the help of the new wave of female-centric companies who have so many new, and better products. Wow.
I too need more inspiration and information about how to sort through all the new possible care regimes and products. It’s hard to know when there is this ever-growing abundance of options. I think many of us need efficiency in both the finding of new products and the daily care of our skins! Help!
Lyn, your approach to clothing through feel (how it feels to your skin) rather than sight is quite interesting. My approach is largely visual, although comfort is a consideration (although not the primary). Jean
Have you read about Korean spas? And how an integral part of their experience is extreme exfoliation? I haven’t done the spa experience – but reading about it inspired me to get an exfoliating bath glove several years ago. I use it vigorously all over my body at least once a week in the shower. I like the idea of sloughing off a layer and allowing my skin to breath. Plus the softness! I usually put a light moisturizer/body oil on afterwards.
Since about two years now I think I have found my face and body care which have become very special to me. I visit a phyto clinic where they mix creams for my face and body
according to my skin type. The creams and oils contain no preservatives which means they have no shelf life, I need to keep them in the fridge and they last only for about three months. This may be too much work for many, but for me it is worth the extra effort, they are wonderful on the skin and my skin is good, I get many complements how good my skin is . Ruth, London
20+ years of acne made me want to ignore my skin. After moving to Korea, Iāve learned how to properly care for my skin. Iāve endured many procedures that aid in my skinās recovery. The most important thing Iāve learned is the double cleanse and daily after care. Asians have a ritual for their skin that involved applying several products daily. I would argue that my skin has drastically changed, for the better, because of this ritual. I suggest everyone, including men, adopt a daily skin ritual to achieve their skinās highest potential.
No matter the topic, your posts are just beautiful to read and once again resonates strongly with me. I have recently started to use a skin care regime that actually works. Developed by women, for women (and men) that actually appears to improved and refreshed my skin. I have always been diligent caring for my face but am now extending that care to the rest of my body.
I always enjoy reading your blog however your photo’s are what always catches my eyes.
Skin care for women of any age is important, especially for us over 50. I have always looked after my skin but try and keep it simple. Cleanse, tone (non alcohol), serum, eye creme and moisturizer. I also do micro needling and cupping on my face plus weekly face masks. I enjoy an evening when I can just chill, have glass of wine and put a great mask on my face.
Also drinking lot’s of water, eating healthy and exercise. All of these things "show" on your skin.
I do not care about laugh lines or wrinkles because at this age of 57 I have earned them !
Hi Lyn! Try this; next shower ā¦ do. not. rush. it.
Take your time in the shower and allow the hot water to pour down over your body and just stand and enjoy it. Buy a super nice shower wash – not perfume-like but more organic ( I have a cinammon one I luv) and just drink in that aroma mixed with the hot steam!
Your posts are so inspiring and so full of your true emotion and thank you for sharing such personal revelations.
Of course, skin care does extend to the body which further nourishes the soul. Cleanliness means so much more than the typical definition of the word.
As for facial care, have you tried a jade roller?!!! Please look into this as it is soothing and calming and beneficial and sooo relaxing.
Bless you dear lady.
Kat .
What a lovely metaphor , " ..the skin has eyes .. " It’s true, we experience our daily lives through our skin, the interface between our external world and our inner mechanisms. Our skin sends and receives millions of signals expressing our wellbeing and is far more than a waterproof barrier covering our body. A fascinating organ that deserves quality care and it starts from the inside.
I have been skin careless over my life, too much sun – I believe I’m solar powered . It took me years to break the habit of smoking, that cool action that represented liberation, independence, and sophistication. I stopped drinking alcohol, soft drinks, coffee, and switched to water, which I still must remind myself to do with regularity. Over the years, and there are many, I’ve grown more compassionate towards myself and have begun to accept my own personal beauty and I demonstrate that in one way through personal care.
My daily skincare includes,
Face and Neck :
– water, as much as I remember to drink
– warm water moisture cleansing
– rosewater/witch hazel toner
– Hyaluronic acid/ B5 serum
-Vitamin C/ HA spheres brightner
– Moisturizer
Body:
– 30 to 90 minutes of quality exercise
– as much outside fresh air as I can have ( Nova Scotia winters are damp and bitter)
– rest
– all over moisturizer for dry skin
– heavy cream for my heels that crack
– fewer showers and gentle soap if I"m using it at all
I eat fresh food and organic if it’s available. My intention’s are good.
Beauty is, of course, more than skin deep, but it is the canvas we view first
Thank you for your fabulous photos and your interesting topics.
Enjoy your day and have a glass of water with a slice of fresh lemon
in a crystal glass. Continue to be …
I find my body skin care routine differs greatly from my face/neck area. For the face I use a wide range of top of the line products and machines like LED and micro current
But for the body I take an Ayurvedic technique: dry brushing, herb/grain scrubs, and the best part: an all over oil massage using banyan botanicals sunflower oil. I have a beautiful oil warmer that makes it even better!
I was lucky to have a grandmother and mother who stressed skin care over make-up. My grandmother had amazing skin into her 90ās.
In the morning, I use a glycolic cleanser that I massage into my face, neck and dƩcolletage and then let sit for about 4 minutes while I brush my teeth, pull out the clothes, shoes and accessories I will wear for the day.
Once in the shower, I use a rough washcloth that exfoliates my skin as I wipe the cleanser off. I use angentle soap for my body in the shower, exfoliating 2-3 times a week.
I always use lotion after with a different one for my face. And if In have dry itchy skin in the winter (my back) I have found a dry oil spray works well to alleviate the uncomfortableness.
Then make-up and hair.
In the evening, the cleansing, toning, serum and moisturizing is a nice relaxing ritual.
I hope that helps. Iāve learned consistency is key. Always remove your makeup and pay attention to what your skin is telling you by its feel, texture and color.
Then itās
I am so happy to hear that you, too, are re-evaluating the care of your skin! I struggle with this a lot, as there are so many products to try, all with some very positive reviews to back their claims. For myself, I have decided that what makes me happiest is to use organic products with ingredients that have been used in various parts of the world over time. I use a terrific line called Phyt’s for my face and, with my sensitive and aging skin, am finding that it is working well at maintaining moisture and contributing to a nice glow! I don’t wash my face in the morning – just apply toner and then moisturizer.
I love to take long hot baths, which is know is terrible, especially at this time of year, but I find it relaxing. So, to offset, I apply a good thick moisturizer to my skin while it’s still damp. I find that body butters are especially helpful. And, like many others who have commented here, I try to drink a lot of water (at least 48 oz a day).
As a young teenager I adored 1930’s & ’40’s Hollywood films. Having seen the use of cold cream in them I would walk about with my face slathered in the stuff feeling I was sooooo glamourous! Yet it took until my 50’s to find the best thing I have ever done for my skin… eliminate sugar from my diet. I now find myself staring in mirrors at the change in my skin, it is amazing!
It’s wonderful to discover you and your blog! You’re a work of art, an inspiration, a breath of fresh air, a woman whose time has come. You quickened my heartbeat!
Ladies, speaking of skin, please check out dermatologist Dr. Dray’s blog and you’ll discover most of the products we use irritate our skin. She sells nothing but knowledge. By using her routine, of leaving water on your face and applying 2 very inexpensive moisturizers you can find anywhere, plus sunscreen, I’ve altered my skin from red and dry to plump and healthy. I now spend the money I wasted on moisturizers on books and travel.
I adore Rodan and Fields skincare. I have used it for years and just became a rep for them because I truly adore it. It’s made a huge difference for me. I think their roller (microneedle) for older skin is a game changer.
I just discovered you through the Buzzfeed video. You are such a joyful inspiration! I’m looking forward to following your blog and work. Love your observations about the relationship of skin to fashion, as well as what’s happening in the skincare world today. So true and hopeful! I am similarly connected to the feeling of clothing on my skin. Regarding skincare for the body, I find regular exfoliation/scrubs to be helpful, including salt scrubs. And while it’s not the easiest thing to do in the colder months, an oil rub in a cold shower is very enlivening and leaves the skin feeling wonderful. It’s a kundalini yoga practice. Basically how it works: rub oil (sesame or olive or coconut or similar) all over the body outside the shower. Then get into a cold shower and rub the oil vigorously into the skin all over the body, ideally three times on each area/body part. Then rinse. Best to do with an anti-slip mat on the floor of your shower because the oil can sometimes make the floor slick. Additionally, I sometimes experiment with combining scented oils with my body lotion, and in the summertime I like a body spritz as a refresher. Also I use toner on the decolletage and upper back, but that’s because I have combination skin especially on my body – may not be relevant in the 60s or 70s.
Hi,
You are a breath of fresh air. My friend Tina Wilkins shared your Facebook video and I was smiling the entire time watching. She is an amazing musician/songwriter and also wrote a song "Ageless". It would be a great song to go along with your video too. I’ve attached the link to the song for your enjoyment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyy3wI7H3v0. I told her your song would be perfect for your video and she said she would love that so if you would be interested in getting touch with her I’d love to help make that happen.
One of the best things I’ve done for my face/neck is to have HydraFacials. I have suffered from cystic acne since a teen and was on all meds for it over the years and nothing ever really worked until I started having HydraFacials monthly and within 3 months I was off all meds. My skin is amazing at 51 years old now. For the rest of my skin I hydrate with shea butter products and limit sun exposure.
Keep inspiring us all and making the world a better place beautiful lady!
Me too! My daughter has made me skin products, moisturisers and now skin oils all organic, for years. At last she has started a small business making them. Not yet braved her scrub recipes from her free ebook but maybe the time will come. Nothing makes old skin young but it can make it lovely.
I use a Norwex body cloth and water for most of my cleaning (body wise)-but the Norwex shower gel is moisturizing, gentle and free of chemicals. I love a good body butter and Loccitaine has an amazing shea butter that is like heaven on my skin at night. Beautycounter has an amazing body oil that I also use post shower-and that stuff is magic. I would be happy to send you a Norwex body cloth for free along with a sample of our gel. š https://glee.norwex.biz
I greatly agree with you about the power of skin as an organ. I do take very good care of my face because I enjoy my ritual. During winter, putting Aquaphor on my hands and feet before sleep has kept both looking lovely. For body, I periodically get a salt scrub done or sometimes do one myself in the shower. And during yoga I love to massage my own feet. There’s so many ways to pour love into ourselves š Just discovered you and love everything I see. Hope you’re happy today. <3
In a world of plastic and Botox, you are a breath of fresh air and my new idol! Iām so happy to have found such a beautiful role model. I also am looking into an affordable skin care regimen. I will be watching to see what you decide
" The beauty of a women must be seen from in her eye" As we age we begin to love what we see in the mirror regardless of all the imperfect. We find beauty regime’s to help us retain some of youth we once had. I believe I have found a beauty regime that does just that. The product is called Nerium. Staying hydrated and using quality skin care is the secret.
You are so very beautiful. And I think you’re helping women find bravery.
I am a STRONG advocate of skin care. Iām 60 and have been using body lotion almost daily since I was 16. Applying it is kind of my way of saying thank you to my strong, capable body. Itās as normal to me as brushing my teeth. Having a facial routine is also something I live by. My favorite facial products are by Dr. Hauschka. Iāve used Ahava Dead Sea Salt soap for about 25 years and my skin is as soft as silk. I see caring for myself as prayer.
I just discovered you today and you are incredibly inspiring!!! Thank you. ??
Believe it or not, my former husband advocated that I use a skin care line and no more soap. From the age of 23 I have been using a skin care regimen. I love it as I feel I am honoring my skin…
I just found you today on my facebook feed and this is my new favorite blog!! I simply love Philosophy "Purity" cleanser – I use it religiously — I also use their "When Hope Is Not Enough" serum and love the M. Asam facial products on HSN — After literally trying every single product on the market for my extremely sensitive skin – these items are what work for me – I’m 63 1/2 and looking forward to aging gracefully without botox, fillers or anything other than hair color – not ready to go full on grey just yet – Thanks for an uplifting wonderful blog – Looking forward to reading past posts and getting new ones!! Laurie Swindell
Wow!! I just found you today and I love you….what an inspiration!!! I was a teen mom … Iāve been raising babies my whole life. Iāve lived for my children … which is very rewarding. And I never had a skin regimen. Until a couple of years ago when I started working with a health and wellness company!!! In two years I will be 60 .. And that has brought me to a point in my life where I am wondering who I am and what do I want?? When I started working with this company I had no idea how it would empower me .. I love what it has done for my health, skin and personal spirit!! Now I need to work on my fashion!!! Iāve been looking!! And I have ideas ? I hope you have a marvelous day!! And I look forward to learning more from you!! ?
What a stunning perspective on skin and skincare. Seeing it as more than perfunctory–as pleasure and reclaiming one’s power–is a mantra I’m going to carry with me. Lovely. Thank you for sharing!
I just found your blog today and absolutely love it – your personal aesthetic and your relationship with fashion are a pleasure to behold. With regards to skincare, I love the Korean approach and follow about 5/6 steps in my facial routone daily depending on whether or not i’ve worn make up that day. With regards to my body, I am from a Caribbean background where the tradition of ‘creaming yuh skin’ is an essential part of our self maintenance and largely responsible for the beautiful skin so many of our elders enjoy. If there is one thing I would recommend, it would be coconut oil – cleanser, moisturiser, lip balm, for hair and skin and to eat. I slather it all over my body directly onto wet skin post shower. COCONUT OIL!!!!!!
This is a true treat! Your blog I must st say. Just getting acquainted and looking forward… a bit brave, a bit nonconformist, a bit out of my comfort zone; itās probably why I like it.
You definitely make ordinary so extraordinary.
Great!
Fanstatic blog. Trendsetter. Your writings and pictures reflect character, truth and courage. Love it and so glad that you have created this.

I just discovered your blog this morning and itās fantastic! This topic speaks to me on so many levels. I āre-inventedā myself 12 years ago to become a Medical Esthetician. Iāve been practicing ever since, now at a Spa in Chicagoās Gold Coast.
I think your philosophy of establishing a routine with your skin is THE most important part of skin care. The clients who I see that use professional grade products, come in for regular anti aging treatments and try to eat healthy always look so beautiful, no matter what their age!
Iād love to share my skin care regimen with you: Start with a great exfoliating cleanser, thatās gentle, yet effective. Next, a hydrating serum, followed by a moisturizer.
I developed my own skin care line several years ago with these 3 components, and it sells out every month here in Chicago! It is so easy and so effective. I also developed a body lotion for one of my older clients and she says it changed her skin.
One thing is for sure….you have really changed my perspective on aging, fashion and enjoying life as we get older!
Cheers!
Julie Poulos
When I was 19 (I’m 75 now), I heard Marlene Dietrich (I think) say "never clean your face with anything but water." I’ve followed that until now. The only soap that ever touches my face is the bit that accidentally washes down during a shampoo. I’ve never worn foundation, only put the very mildest inexpensive fragrance-free moisturizer on my face daily. That and drinking plenty of water all my life, plus no cigarettes, has kept my skin smooth and supple and wrinkle-free all these years.
I think an often overlooked aspect of skincare resides in our diet. Taking good supplements including oils like a balanced omega blend, and/or collagen supplements helps keep our skin moist and healthy from within. Additionally, eating a whole foods diet including healthy pure fats is very helpful.
As a working, 66-year-old woman who abused her skin with sun and cigarettes, I do now try to pamper my face so that it doesn’t get any worse. But it’s very hard to find time to be kind to the rest of my body’s skin! I do a good scrub down every now and then in the shower, followed by Aveeno Skin Relief Intense Moisture Cream. In a tub-like container, so I can just scoop it out. It’s lovely, unscented, and lasts until the next shower. Life is too short to spend more time than that…
Iām 52 blonde and fair skinned. I have experienced dry skin most of my life. 60 days ago I discovered collagen powder which is mixed into a beverage such as juice or tea. It is miraculous! I first noticed new nail growth to be so much smoother. And now my skin! Itās funny now that my skin is so noticeably improved, I am nearly obsessed with indulging its care even further. I suppose this obsession is about seeing and feeling results. In the past all the lotions and potions did very little. Now lotions on beautifully smooth supple skin is just icing on the cake!!!! Marvelous cake!ā¤ļøāØ?

This is poetry! And a poetic way to live life. So true … "the skin has eyes." The biggest organ is the one most often "overlooked" … funny how we neglect our relationship to it. I’m going to meditate on my skin. Thank you for sharing. — @vicequeenmaria
I discovered your Blog today. I was a former Fashion Student, however no school can ever teach you what You uniquely possess. I gave Up on my dream because there are so many people like myself out there, but so few of Us get the chance. Many people come to me for advice. Friends tell me to try and get back into it. Lack of time with my job limits me. I am a person with many talents. I know about Art, Fashion, home decor, cooking and the list goes on. On the subject of Skin Care, I can tell you that I’ve tried every miracle product out there, and guess what….. None of it worked. While on vacation in Greece one year, I seemed to have forgotten to pack my face wash, a friend handed me a tube of Shiseido face wash for men, and was I in for a Surprise! It’s the Best thing that ever happened. I’ve been a Shiseido brand User for over fifteen years. I learned their brand and philosophy, and absolutely Recomend it to all my friends. I turn 50 in a few days, everyone’s in disbelief. I often get the same comments, -You thirty something are so Lucky! I wish I was that young again! I dare not correct them, to say the least I am flattered. Another important thing is green tea, I was a coffee drinker (still am) except I now limit it to no more than one or two cups a day. Drink plenty of water, avoid soda and fried foods. Plenty of sleep and eat a salad a day. Try and have some sort of physical activity, even if it is cleaning around your house. Avoid the sun and always use a high SPF Sunscreen. A facial performed by a professional once a month geared to your specific skin needs is a must. I hope this benefits most of you out there, I cant say enough of how good you’ll feel once the compliments start. Now if only I could come up with some kind of miracle solution to those unruly grey hairs in my beard ??? I’d be all set!
EXFOLIATE with a gentle product. I use a lot of the Fresh sea berry product line. I use the exfoliating soap over my whole body because I love the soft enlivening scrub feeling from the little specks in the soap but it also lathers into a luscious cream of a soap. plus the smell of it is natural. It reminds me of the first time I tasted mung bean sprouts. I follow with Fresh (actually their Logo uses a small ‘f’ as in, fresh,) sea berry restorative body cream with omegas 3,6,7, &9, It continues the gentle exfoliation process. I feel so smooth and soft afterwards and o love the smell…..even though my husband scrunched his nose at it, I don’t care. It’s me who has to live in my skin. and it’s not necessarily expensive. Go ahead and try it! you might be surprised!
Coffee grinds, coconut oil and honey- mix in equal parts. A fabulous exfoliating body treatment that leaves skin silky smooth…..
And au natural perfect!
Ding, Dong, yes, iconic Avon of 130+ years, just launched a luxurious line of in-shower body lotions. I am the Avon Lady and I will hook you up with a complementary variety pack -pm me! @ebeautyboss Susan Press
I came across your blog as it was featured in buzz feed in my facebook wall. I even shared it and captioned, "me, 40 years from now!" Indeed, healthy skin is the best accessory. That’s why now that Im in my thirties, I make sure that I maintain proper skin care regimen.
Very wise.
Obtain a beautiful organic massage oil, add your own blend of drops of sweet essential oil fragrance, lavish and stroke the oil onto your gorgeous body after a warm shower, inhaling the divine scent…
There are so many great bodycare products out there right now. For me I like the simple ones, Trader Joe’s sells a great mango shave cream that both my husband and I use. C.Booth sells a salt body scrub that leaves nice protective layer of Eucalyptus oil on my skin, really great in the winter. Both of these products are under $10 and generously sized.
I just discovered your blog after seeing a video about you on Facebook. When I was 19 years old and older lady advised me to start using eye crean around my eyes. Best advice anyone ever gave me. After more that 60 years of being in the sun, my skin doesnāt look too bad. My favorite face cleanser Noxema cleansing cream, the original classic formula. They have changed the formula now, but sometimes you can still find the original with eucalyptus.
Cucumber Ice Treatment. Take small paper cups, the smallest you can find. Make cucumber juice, pour into the cups and freeze. When ready to use, roll the edges of the cup outward to expose the ice cube. If you found the right size cup, the ice cube will be just big enough to hold conventionally. Move the ice cube over the entire face. Keep moving; the ice cube; don’t hold in one place. You can also apply over your closed eyes. Do this for about 30 seconds. Don’t wash off – just pat dry. My skin feels so refreshed after this treatment and my moisturizer absorbs much better. I apply this cucumber ice treatment every day. Tones my skin.
Sounds refreshing!
Ī met someone who makes organic oils. He proposed organic grapeseed oil for my face as I m less than 50 y.o. I ve been using it for 20 days now, my face going back to baby face mode š For over 50 y.o he proposed pomegranate oil. He said for 30mins the face gets rough but after that turns to baby face. That is because (both oils I mentioned) have the ability of bringing out from the skin the dead cells.
Interesting, thanks for sharing as Skincare seems to be a very popular topic
There is not one skin care regimen that will work for everybody. What works for one, may not work for another. I am 50 and five years ago I began using Mary Kay products. I began using them to help a friend. I learned more about the company and how it has empowered women around the world. I became a consultant myself and have never looked back. It has changed not only my skin, but my life.
Whatever you are using is obviously working for you, as you look amazing. If you want to focus on the skin below your neck, I will echo what some of the others have stated: use a gentle exfoliant 2-3 times per week and a luxurious body moisturizer twice daily.
An ayurvedic approach is dry brushing your skin. It not only exfoliates, helps prevent in grown hairs but it is also supposed to help reduce signs of cellulite, improves circulation and best of all stimulates the lymphatic system.
You have to use a natural brush. I have been doing this for about a year and I love it. If I am in a hurry and don’t do it one day, I miss it. I feel more energized. It hasn’t gotten rid of my ‘chicken legs’ but there is definitely more a glow to my skin than before. But mostly I just feel better when I do it.
In winter, I would follow up only with sesame oil and I felt luxurious! You can also use sesame oil on face, cuticles. You can add a few drops of lavender essential oil as well.
Hello from a small town north of Toronto š Iāve been in the natural skincare industry since 1998, I designed probably one of the first ācleanā lines – haha! -And raised my children on that meager income -The market was not ready here at the time, but I made enough to keep us fed and sheltered š
I suggest that you try a light mix of oils for cleansing and moisturizing your head š neck and chest. Use cotton to remove the residue as it will pick up all the debris. I suggest a blend of perhaps cold pressed grape seed oil to cleanse gently at night- no soaps or lathering suds- just remove it with large cotton pads – I find them easiest and thereās a joy in seeing all the gunk that comes off of my skin after a day on the stark white pads! Then as a moisturizer for face, neck and chest; macadamia nut oil with about a 20% mix of Rosehip oil and a few drops of neroli and perhaps ruby grapefruit essential oils mixed in per ounce. Glass bottle, glass dropper can be recycled from whatever u have in a drawer Iām sure:-) Keep it out of the sunlight and use both oils sparingly. Iāve also myself taken the habit of using French micellar water- which also can be made at home. I will use this when I have have worn a lot of dark eye make up.
All the best of life to you,
Marcia.
Cold water to rince body after shower and occasional simple soft home made oatmeal scrub. Drinking lot’s of water (Volvic and Hepar do marvels), adding one avocado just with lemon everyday along a few nuts, taking supplements of evening primrose oil and borage oil. Absolutly rying to continue to cream down from the neck to the inside of the arms. Argan or apricot oil (if available Daisy oil even better) for body with a few drops of cistus essentiel oil and Damask essentiel oil: fermetĆ© garantie !.. and enjoy the moments chatting with the passing through flagrances. What fantastic followers you have! Iāve just begun taking better care of myself and learned so much from all the comments. Thank you, such a gift!
So so true…yesterday I went to one of my favorite thrift stores (love vintage shopping) and saw a stunning green mohair sweater – so soft, so well structured. I loved it – my skin didnāt. It felt soft in my hands but incredibly scratchy against my body. It stayed where it was found, unfortunately.
One of my ‘indulgences’ used to be an all over body salt scrub at the Korean Bath House in Sydney. It was wonderful. The women were deceptive – small but able to flip me over like a piece of fish on a slab! This was followed up by a warm bath with oils and at home I would moisturise like mad. The place was wonderful, a women only environ. Sadly it closed.
I have discovered that the K- beauty stuff is no joke. I have a 10 step routine I use and it has taken 15 years off my face without surgery. Highly competitive industry that has a price point that is as reasonable as target and as expensive as Dior, all skin concerns can be met this way and tailored specifically to you. I am a convert, I am in love.
I drink lots of water. Recommendation is 1/2 of your body weight plus 20 oz. Drink a 12 oz. "beauty juice" of blended frozen blueberries, fresh spinach, carrot, and celery. In a few weeks my pores tightened, some skin hormonal bumps disappeared. Will be increasing more per day. Use a serum with moisturizer as I live in the Southwest desert where humidity averages 4%.
