This is the second post of my white shirt and jeans self-challenge. I chose to go with what I might describe as my Japanese version of “dark romance”. The white asymmetrical shirt surprises with a tail of knife edge pleats, softened by the loose cut and high neck. Issey Miyake pieces add drama and darkness and my galaxy earrings signify my journey through a new time and geography. I also wore the jacket upside down because I wanted it to seem as if I had feathers and wings. High waisted jeans in deep indigo match the moodiness of the scene and sexy Hermes sandals with kitten heels complete the somewhat coquettish quality of the total look.
Someone asked me recently if I always loved fashion. I think it started very early as I always loved playing with dolls. I was more interested in changing their clothes and putting together outfits for them than pretending they were my baby. I was also obsessed with paper dolls for the same reason. My grandmother, fashion icon that she was, started me on a collection of Madame Alexander dolls. For some reason when I look at myself in this series of posts a modern Madame Alexander doll comes to mind.

How have you dressed up jeans for a more sophisticated look?
I mostly live in jeans, so yes, dress them up various ways. But I’ve never had the imagination to wear a jacket upside down, will have to play with that concept! I love the outfit details here, and the star earrings bring a witty touch.
Turning the jacket upside down was brilliant! Love the story LOVE the LOOK!
Get out of here! love your jacket idea. Some designer is going to take that idea and put it on the runway. Maybe with you as a collaborator?
Your outfit does tell the story. I get it.
I like how the white blouse with it’s two asymmetrical sides supports the jacket.
Yes this is what romance is like: twists, layers, upside down and straight with surprises.
I take my jeans to another level by diverting the eye with accessories.
And about those paper dolls? Isn’t it time for them to resurface once again, as a product?
So delighted to see what you are doing with this new season of creativity! It looks like the jeans have turned out to be exactly what you needed. I, too, have used jackets and interesting shirts to give new flavor to old denim. Your reverse-worn jacket idea reminds me of a knitted vest I’ve been planning to make from Purlbee: http://www.purlbee.com/2014/10/29/sideways-garter-vest/ that can be worn either way, one way shortwaisted with a huge flowing collar, the other with a longer, more sedate silhouette.
I would love to see a picture of your finished product, it looks beautiful.

The vintage and pleated scarf is beautiful as headwear. It adds a special touch to your unique and stunning ensemble. Love the idea of an upside down jacket!
