During the 1990’s, I had a boss who was exceptionally brilliant. She was small like me and had a french gamine look to her. I absolutely loved her style and the clothing she wore. Her designer of choice was Morgane Le Fay.
Morgane Le Fay was founded in 1982, a brand firmly rooted in the artistic and creative culture of Soho. There are stores in Soho and on Madison Avenue and good news for my West Coast followers; Santa Monica and Malibu. The brand’s history is clearly tied to the artistic sensibility and creativity serendipitously found in a city, the topic I wrote about in this week’s post. The top I am wearing can be styled as a dress or a shirt and although sheer there are double panels of fabric strategically placed so that I felt extremely comfortable yet ever so romantic and modern when wearing this piece. See Morgane Le Fay’s Fall 2015 collection here.

Did you ever covet the clothes and style of another woman?
What a fabulous outfit! I just popped over to the Morgane le Fay site and can see that many of the styles might be adaptable for petite frames. Will check out their Santa Monica store for sure!
Thanks, I have to say this is one of my favorites too.
I agree trying to find them too!
Love the Morgane Le Fay look – I assume she is name after King Arthur’s "darker" half-sister!
Also love the gothic edge to some of these pieces… looks like Jane Eyre’s been tipped over the edge.
Thanks for sharing.
That is some research I need to do, not sure of the answer.

I did, but then the designers sacrificed their creative expression for the needs of the market. Few stay true to their vision.
I’m still searching for those designers that "get me." Visiting you has moved me towards that direction.
I agree trying to find them too!
I found this designer in the early 90’s in New York… I have had a love affair every since, Morgan has been the best lover of all, no complaints and plenty of ways to look fabulous…. xo Melissa
Now that is a clever way to describe a designer!

Happy 1st year Birthday. And in the same celebratory breath, sincere well wishes for your mother. Though I am still learning the wealthy abundance of fabulous designers, thus far, I consistently am drawn to Acne, The Row, Marni, Emerson Fry, Vera Wang, Chanel, and Tibi to name a few. The simplicity in their lines, constructions, their luxurious silks and knits offer comforting buffers and elevating illuminations as I negotiate each day. The quiet designs offer solace and peace, for me, especially in a nation that is becoming more preternaturally uncomfortable for me, such as entering the movie theater last evening, seeing signs that bags and purses are subject to searches, and I was asked to open my bag by the ticket taker. A stark reminder of the result of our nation’s moments of insanity, for the first time I found myself aware of individuals moving in and out of the theater during the film. Hence, my evening was punctuated with lugubrious moments during the film. The styles I choose serve to sustain and increase my psychological health, providing a sense of calm, style, confidence, strength, and loveliness in much the same way as does my how I strive to cultivate my relationships, decorate my home, and surround myself with loving animals who needed a loving home, to say the least. For me, it is an essential curating, instead of a coveting, and careful creating and editing as I move forward as positively as I can throughout each day. Though, I certainly did covet the brain of one of my English professors when I was a grad student. I had such an intellectual crush on her…but that is for another day ~

What an amazing essay about the power of clothes psychologically but also as a creative medium for many women. I love the way you respond to my posts so eloquently. I am so sorry the pleasure of a movie had to be disrupted. It is indeed a sad moment in history for us right now.

I find it fascinating how this bold combination of two very different styles (the skirt and the top/dress) merge into a sophisticated look. The polished hair style and make up along with the perfectly matching accessories are top of the cake. And your individual touch on the whole set is very inspiring!
Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I love hearing from readers that they appreciate the thought I put into my outfits.
