Since I have been talking so much about re(imagining) lately, this week rather than the usual fashion bibliography, I would like to introduce you to a new blog published by the Corcoran Group: INHABIT. I’ll link you to some of the features that I particularly enjoyed and to start, here’s one on a topic we have explored before: fashion and architecture. It was a challenge to curate because everything is well-written and complemented by beautiful images. So I suggest you just go and read the entire launch yourselves.
More like an on-line magazine, INHABIT has the perfect combination of stunning photos and inspiring stories about a range of topics, people and ideas. I was thrilled to be asked in this inaugural edition to talk about my reinvention story and what that meant for the kind of space I envisioned as I move towards the next phase of life. An added bonus is you can tour the glorious space I got to talk about it in.

As you know I love hearing the personal story of a designer’s inspirations and process behind their final garment. There are features in INHABIT that extend beyond fashion to stories about other creatives, such as a couple who design lighting and furniture. From articles about home fragrance creators to advice on how to conceal technology with artful design, the blog uses the art of storytelling to inspire us to “live who we are”. We travel to places (London) and spaces (with glorious plants) in ways that are authentic and inspire creativity. A perfect example is the story of the Brooklyn based design team who allow their context to form their work. There is also practical information, like data and reports (which of course you know I love as a professor) for different real estate markets like New York City and South Florida.
