This weekly round-up that you do is a great feature, thank you. Two comments:
Re Dior, The release of this film inspired me to see "Christian Dior: Le Couturier et Son Double / The Man Behind the Myth", which goes into his early life and post-WWII success. In mostly b&w, it shows the genius of those early designs, and the quality of his couture pieces.
Re Stella McCartney, "In short, McCartney has built the world’s first sizable global fashion brand rooted in sustainability."
There seems to be some confusion as to the meaning of ‘sustainable’. Not using animal-based products may be ethical, but it is certainly sustainable, as you can always raise another cow. However if you are using products that are derived from petroleum and hydrocarbons, (plastics and most synthetic fibers) to replace them, it is not at all ‘sustainable’. Once a barrel of oil is used, it cannot be replaced.
Thoughtful comments and great points about sustainability, thank you Denton. By the way, I saw the Watanabe window at Bergdorfs, fabulous.
