Tucked away in a hidden courtyard off the rue St. Honoré, just steps away from Colette is the Paris showroom boutique of Caroline De Marchi. Because she is so often traveling it was important to her to invest the showroom and the brand with a sense of place. Caroline says she wanted women to feel at home and I have to say after meeting her in person that her lovely smile alone makes you feel that you have arrived in a comfortable and happy space. Her thoughtfulness and consideration is evident in everything she does. She is so gracious and engaging I immediately felt as if I had known her for longer than a few short hours.

““A craftsman in Genoa taught me all that I know.””

— Caroline De Marchi

As the quote above suggests, Caroline is passionate in her commitment to the art of local craftspersons and this explains the beauty and originality of each of her bags. Made in Italy, her bags are all handmade, using exotic skins and precious leathers and are fabricated with exceptional craftsmanship.  To see the craftspersons at work on a bag click here.

Here is a selection from Caroline’s SS 2015 and Autumn/Winter 2015-2016 Cubo and Bali collections. Bags can be purchased in Caroline’s e-shop or at Yuta Powell in New York, Savannah in Santa Monica, Julianne in Montecito and Julianne NY in Port Washington.

Of course Accidental Icon had a favorite bag and unsurprisingly it is the beautiful black leather handbag featured below. Although I have to say I am contemplating doing something out of character because I am tempted by the zebra stripe bag I am standing next to in this picture.
