In this week’s post I look back to AW 2015 and have some fun with a darker side of romance. Dark, moody, saturated colors that put me in mind of the Dutch painters is my palette. Dark greens, black blacks, burgundy (I think the fashion folks are calling it “marsala” this Fall) and diffuse light inspired me and I feel nostalgic and romantic in this week’s photos. A/W looks from Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Ann Demuelemeester, Stella McCartney and more offer a range of textures and fabric choices from brocades to rich velvets, moody bloom prints and fragile lace. I have to say I am especially enamored with the nerdy, intellectual take on romance that appeared in the Gucci AW 2015 collection. Models wearing glasses and velvet ties around the neck with flowers… love that. I was inspired by all of these designers in pulling together my look for this post.
