Super comfort on an ordinary day means stealing your partners oversized shirt with long cuffs that require cuff links and letting them fall over your wrists and hands. It means you get to tuck one end inside your pants in a sloppy way. Essential to the look is the wearing of your favorite pair of really super soft and broken in jeans. Because this year you discovered you are deliriously in love with sneakers you wear a new leather pair. Yet because you are you, there is a Chanel bag involved. A black blazer with a little more length adds the necessary element of cool. The sunglasses, well as my students say about something that is beyond cool…those are sick.

What’s your idea of comfort dressing?
I adore your posts! You have a unique sense of style that inspires me to develop and stick with my own. Thank you
I am thrilled to hear that because my goal is not to have people look like me but rather that they feel inspired to take a little risk and own their own unique style whatever that might be.
Thanks it was also easy!

This is excellent.

This look is absolutely wonderful!
Sometimes it is the simpler, classic pieces that are the best!
I am a firm believer that what we wear absolutely impacts how we feel and can be used purposively to regulate emotions.

The trick is comfortable AND stylish, isn’t it? I struggle with this sometimes but I don’t feel "comfortable" about my day unless I am happy with what i am wearing ,so even on days spent at home, I now try to choose clothes that make me feel good AND relaxed.

I could use some lessons from you on proper jacket fitting! I am right with you on nothing to high on the neck.
Similar to yours. Comfy shoes( no matter the style) A jacket that fits just right at the armholes. Nothing to high on my neck. Still searching for the perfect fabrics for layering each season.
Love your style. Those earrings have mileage.

Love your style today! Great thoughts!
Thanks I feel more and more like this is the only way I want to dress right now!

Love your blog as much as I love comfortable clothes. EmilyTsCloset.com
Thanks for letting me know, that’s my motivation to keep getting it out even when I feel overwhelmed like I do now because it is finals time at work.

Ooh the challenge of a little edge to the everyday comfortable outfit is the really important one in my book. It’s much easier to plan an event outfit but getting those little details in how we dress to go to buy a newspaper, that’s what lifts us emotionally. Doesn’t matter at all if nobody else notices it makes me feel like I’m on my game. Now I’m just about to go and watch a relative’s horse go round cross country jumps, not something I often do – this may be more of a challenge!
I love how you expressed the importance of the every day ordinary moment and the relationship to style and emotion. You are so right about how easy it is to style for a big event, true for me too!.

My comfort dressing would definitely be any pair of my many pairs of jeans plus a lovely warm cowl neck brightly colored sweater on cold days and in the warmth a crisp tee shirt and light fitted cardigan or the like plus always a comfortable pair of cool looking sneakers. I tend to be a stickler for always looking pulled together so I always have my jewellery on and am usually ready to meet anyone but entirely comfortable. I love color so usually my sweater or tee will be a bright here-she-comes hue! Funky studs in my ears as I have a number of piercings I like to dress up as well. I am just not ever into peeps going out looking like a slob – my motto . . . abf ! right Lyn?
I agree style everywhere, anytime because that does indeed impact my mood as well as how I present myself in the world. And as I have found out much to my surprise you never know what can happen to you!
That’s the motto! We should get T-shirts.

Perfect example of a casual outfit which still oozes style, class and cool. Well done.
