The metaphor of urban nomad is one that suits me and gives expression to the way I as Accidental Icon, am moving into places seen and unseen in my city. I chose this outfit to wear during a video shoot in the Wall Street area because of the way the garment moved and swirled as I walked. As Cecilia has eloquently stated about the intent of her designs in her interview, this shirtdress gives me a sense of freedom, movement and confidence. I feel graceful and the silver ballet slipper shoes by Miu Miu allow me to move as if I were a dancer through the cobblestone streets and alleyways that populate this part of the city. My feet drip with bows, softening my stride.

My look is my version of the feminine counterpart to the usual figures that animate this part of the city. I also wear a tie but unlike the brokers and hedge fund managers mine is black and white gingham and tied in a bow. My apron is a sign that I am also doing work in that I am creating and  producing content for social media but it is left open and untied to indicate the liberation I receive from this kind of work. It also keeps me grounded in my family roles of partner, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. The fact that my body is tired at the end of the day reminds me though that what I do, despite the pleasure, is indeed still work.

On the topic of work, I have been collaborating with a designer to re-design my website to make it easier to find and read content you may have missed or want to return to without endlessly scrolling. The new design moves us closer to being more of a magazine with expanding topics and coverage. It will be unveiled in about two weeks and as everything it will be a work in progress as I, and you, play with it and see all the potentially wonderful things it can do.
