Indirect Expression

I have been talking about emotion in class lately and teaching about how one can facilitate the expression of it.  Sometimes there are no words to describe what is held in our bodies and then we must use what is known as “indirect expressive methods”. These involve activities such as play, drawing, painting, writing, dancing, music and photography to name a few.

I have been thinking about the power of fashion and clothing as an expressive method and how sometimes the clothes I am drawn to are because I need to say something that I cannot seem to find the words for.  So today the words do not come so easily and I will let fashion tell my story.

Do your clothes ever express an emotion for you that you cannot say with words?

    I often wear the entire rainbow … of black … so the expression comes from being an introvert, only to come out when necessary. Thus, not only one emotion, but all of them.

    I see so many fashion posts about having a signature look and style, but I often feel I don’t have a particular style, just wearing what I feel like at the time. So many people going ‘minimalist’ but I love colour and accessories 🙂 Love your outfits, and all the sneakers <3
