“1. a prefix, occurring originally in loanwords from Latin, used with the meaning “again” or “again and again” to indicate repetition, or with the meaning “back” or “backward” to indicate withdrawal or backward motion”

Ever since coming to the conclusion that I needed a reset, I have been finding myself encountering words that begin with the prefix “re”. Whether it is to re(flect), re(generate), re(cycle), re(calibrate), re(nourish), re(plenish) or re(new) they all seem to suggest that sometimes we need to go back in order to move forward. Sometimes we might need a re(fill) if something has been depleted. “Re” words also seem to imply that sometimes one needs to repeat something again and again in order to learn or for something new to become a habit. My goal for the month of the prefix “re” is to instill the habits of taking good healthy care.

As I re(flected) during my reset time, I realized I need a little more structure and direction in where I am headed in all my activities. Waking up on a Monday and having to pump out a post and hope that we had time the weekend before to take photos was not always conducive to my stress level as well creating optimal conditions for creativity.  So moving forward I will be having a monthly theme that will organize my writing, my photos, my newfound video obsession and my bibliographies. This will allow me to plan ahead but still allow for spontaneity within a kind of container. I actually am most creative when I am boxed in to a certain degree. This approach offers a backward kind of creative challenge to the way I have been working.

So for the rest of January the focus will be on “re” words as they apply to taking care of diet, health, nutrition, exercise, hair, skin and stress management. Along with some different kinds of features I will be having (and wearing) a fashion and styling focus on re(cycling).

I will be sharing with you my finished Re;Code garment (it is gorgeous) and the whole process that went into making it, my decision-making process as I go through my clothes to decide which to re(cycle) and which to keep as well as a little re(cyling) project I have been doing with men’s shirts. After going through the mountains of boxes of products that have been generously gifted to me I will share the ones that I actually use and tell you why I do or maybe just share some philosophical musings that they might inspire.

I wish you the happiest of New Years and thank you again for the inspiration you provide through your thoughtful comments.
